          Mirren Gidda is a barrister within No5’s Public Law group, having successfully completed her pupillage in October 2024.

          Mirren represents claimants in the fields of police law, prison law, community care and asylum-related judicial reviews, as well as representing families in inquests.

          She is currently co-convenor of the Police Action Lawyers’ Group and chair of an independent stop and search police monitoring group.

          Prior to coming to the Bar, Mirren spent nine years working as an award-nominated journalist with the BBC, as a documentary presenter for Channel 4 and, most recently, as an investigative journalist with the human rights organisation, Liberty, where she spent four years setting up and working for Liberty’s first journalism unit, including reporting on disproportionate policing.

          Her journalistic experience means she brings tenacity and determination to her practice, as well as empathy for her clients.
